T Cells, thymus cells, are the key to the adapted cell immune response and responses thereof. T Cells indentify foreign antigens to eliminate specific pathogens. Once identified T Cells produce either helper cells which manufacture cytokines to help target highly the specific bacteria or virus or manufacture cytotoxic T cells that produce toxic enzymatic granules that induce pathogen infected cell death.
Post response, one consequent benefit to the organism is a memory effect whereby the antibody response pathway is now pre-programmed. In the event of any future infection or pathogenic invasion the memory effect encourages a swifter and dictated response.
