Neuroscience Metabolism

In its simplest form metabolism is the basic building block of multi-cellular life. The process and complexity of chemical reactions that combine together, sustain living organisms from birth to death. Metabolism has two basic component processes – anabolism, the energetic construction of proteins, DNA and RNA et al, and catabolism, the consumption of organic material to generate energy for metabolic processes.

The metabolic process can be disturbed by any manner of aberration including oxidative stress, mutations, homeostatic cell regulation failure, all or any of which can trigger DNA and cellular damage which is the precursor to cancer formation.
