Lysosomes are specialist cells organelles that utilise hydolase acid enyzmes. The lysosome is one of the cells waste disposal mechanisms and disposes by digestion of the cellular debris, worn out organelles and any bacteria or bodies that the cell has engulfed.
Malfunction of the cells waste disposal system can impair normal metabolic processes and cause disease e.g. Pompe’s disease.
